Internet Marketing Is Now Being Used By Telemarketing

January 6th, 2009 · Authority Blogging

telemarketing calls

Telemarketing is a pretty old business. Telemarketing got its start in the 1950s and has not changed much since it began. The laws that govern telemarketing have become stricter, so it has become necessary for the direct marketing industry to change their focus. One of the new avenues of business that telemarketers are getting into is the internet marketing industry.

The earliest forms of telemarketing were generally used to sell magazine subscriptions to customers through the phone, using a system of database marketing. Gradually, more and more soliciting was done over the phone, until it got to the point that telemarketing calls were being made at all hours of the day and evening. At this point, the government stepped in and started invoking laws for direct marketing so that the telemarketing companies were not able to call as often.

This was good for customers, but of course, it was bad for the telemarketing companies. Some of the laws that were imposed on the telemarketing companies encompassed things such as the time when they could call, being required to stop calling if someone asked to be removed from the call list, and introducing the national do not call registry. This enabled people to take themselves off of any telemarketing list, making it illegal to call them for any kind of solicitation. With so many people taking themselves off of the solicitation lists, the telemarketing companies have had to turn to other means of income generation to keep themselves in business. Now, many telemarketing companies are turning to online marketing to keep turning a profit.

Telemarketing through online marketing is run a little differently than the traditional telemarketing sales format. Some telemarketing companies are retaining their phone processes, and are incorporating the internet into the old way of doing business. How does this work, you may be asking yourself? Well, during the phone call, rather than completing the whole transaction at one time, telemarketers set up internet appointments to further go over the products or services that they are trying to sell. Another way that telemarketing is bleeding into the internet is by having people work from home, rather than all together in one place. People can sign up on the internet to call people for different telemarketing companies. This saves the company money, and it also enables people to be able to work from home. Another way that telemarketers are joining the online world is by completely changing their focus from database marketing to internet marketing. Someone is more likely to click on an internet ad about a product than they are to listen to telephone sales calls during the dinner hour. So joining the internet world is a good move for telemarketing companies.

When the internet was first started, no one knew that it would be used to advertise as much as it is today. Many telemarketing companies are incorporating the idea of a virtual call center into their work strategies. Still other marketing professional companies are getting out of the phone business altogether. It is plain to see that internet marketing is the business of the future.

Why Most People Fail Internet Marketing?

January 6th, 2009 · Authority Blogging

Many people are going into the internet marketing industry dreaming to be a millionaire overnight. While this is a true statement that you will be rich “overnight” literally, but the learnings and failures before this are what most people not able to see.

This leave the door wide open for many con men to pull their tricks right in front of your eyes and yet there are still many people believed in them wanted to make a quick buck.

You’ve got to realize that internet marketing is just another business model that everyone else is having. You will need tremendous determination, patience, and efforts in order to work this out and get rich.

If you are among one of them that’s thinking, “Oh, working over the internet is just as simple as eating a pie” “Oh, I’m pretty good over IT stuff it’s simple!” then you’re very wrong. World Wide Web is a place where tons and tons of information are running across everyday, and you’ll easily get lost not knowing what is the next step.

However, internet marketing does offer you quite some advantages, the most obvious one is that you need only little to none money to start your business, and that you can work less for more each day because you’re leveraging the internet to do the selling for you.

This is the very main reason where most people fail in internet marketing, they have the misconception that internet marketing is the easy way out with huge commission checks come rolling into you, and you don’t need to learn the way of how this business works, don’t need to put in effort etc.

But in fact, you will need to fully understand the knowledge within the internet marketing industry to make things “click”. When everything “clicks”, then you’ll know you’ve “got” it and there is where you start - doing less for more, and waiting for the checks come rolling in.

Despite going through the steep learning curve, there are many tools and guides that can help you along your learning curve but definitely not going rich overnight. For this, I’ve purposely set up The Next Affiliate Idol Review that you can look into more about internet marketing.

Relationship Marketing: Using Demographics As a Lead Source Tool

January 4th, 2009 · Authority Blogging

A good lead-scoring model is an important part of a successful relationship marketing plan. The impetus for implementing a relationship-marketing scheme is to build, develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Implementing and reacting appropriately to a lead-scoring model developed for your company is one of the first steps towards turning a lead into a client. By knowing how to contact and develop potential leads, you will better know how to nurture these relationships once they move from the lead phase into the client stage.

Types of data for relationship marketing

The most successful and accurate lead-scoring models use both explicit and implicit client information. Explicit data are hard facts about your leads that are often provided by your prospects themselves, such as gender, geographic location, company, company size, and title. Implicit data is collected from monitoring the behavior of your leads: web site visits, emails they open, and sometimes previous purchases.

Used together, explicit and implicit factors create a comprehensive picture of your prospective clients that help you make an accurate determination of their likelihood to purchase your products and services. Demographics and psychographic information are two important types of explicit data that are integral to the execution of a successful lead-scoring model.

The value of demographics data

The demographics section of a lead-scoring model categorizes individuals based on characteristics of both the individual, as well as the company for which they work. Some lead scoring models will rely heavily on individual information, some will rely more heavily on a lead’s company information, and some lead-scoring models will use a combination of the two. This will largely depend on the type of business you have, and the types of products and services you provide.

Demographic information collected for your lead scoring can be extremely useful and help to shape the relationship marketing campaign for your company. If you sell beauty products online, you may discover that a certain brand sells better on the East coast than on the West coast. This will help you further tailor your lead scoring model, as well as your relationship-marketing plan.

Demographic information can be extremely useful, but it does have a few pitfalls, of which you’ll want to remain aware:

Self-reported information is not always accurate

People often give answers that they believe are more desirable, such as overstating the size of their company or their salary. Beware of potential aspiration data.

Company information tends to roll towards the mean

Leads at large companies may downplay the size of their company, or their role to avoid potentially hassling sales calls, while leads at small companies may pad their numbers to appear to be a bigger player on the scene than they are in order to be given more attention or to be taken more seriously.

Sometimes people lie

Unfortunately, not everyone will tell the truth on your data collection forms. For a variety of reasons ranging from embarrassment to annoyance or secrecy, some people are reluctant to reveal personal information. If this is a prerequisite for downloading something from your website, they may enter incorrect information.

Lead scoring is a very successful tool, and demographic information is one of the most essential aspects of a lead-scoring model. Keep in mind that the data may not always be 100% accurate and figure this into your scoring system. It is also useful to remember that scoring doesn’t have to take place all at once – you can do it over time, and this may be a more effective way to run your lead scoring model, as part of an effective relationship-marketing platform.
