While In-Site SEO is an important part of an Internet Marketing campaign, it needs the help of what’s called “Off-Site SEO” to really make it all work.  Briefly, the difference between the two is that the In-Site work happens on the web pages, where the Off-Site variety takes place at other web sites.

The greatest weapon in the Off-Site SEO arsenal is Web 2.0 marketing.  This is the foundation of the large bulk of what you’ll be doing away from the home page to vie for rankings.  What is Web 2.0 marketing anyway?

Web 2.0 marketing is essentially marketing taking place at Web 2.0 properties.  Web 2.0 properties are, more or less, any site where you have to build a profile.  Now, the big question is how to make the promotions work here.

A large part of this kind of marketing involves viral marketing techniques.  It’s essentially building “word of mouth.”  You do this by giving away snippets of what your product is or does in such a way that catches your audience’s attention.  Particularly, it’s done in an electronic format that costs nothing to replicate.

To do this, you have to catch people’s attention in some way.  You appeal to certain qualities in your target audience.  Most people want to be entertained, so video promotions are a powerful tool in viral marketing.  

In fact, videos and e-books are the primary ways that viral marketing is transmitted.  They’re cheap to make, and cost nothing to replicate.  In fact, if your promotion is truly “infectious,” your customers will do the reproducing for you.

Of course, now that you’ve gotten people infected with a desire to see more, you have to bring them to you.  Make sure on all your promotional material that your URL and your company’s name are prominently displayed.  

You can always send out more material to promote your product, just so long as you keep them wanting more.  Don’t give everything away, even in the sense of collecting all your videos or e-books!  People will find ways to get freebies, so take care that they still have reason to come back to your site.
